Congratulations to
Coulee Creek Florals!

Terri Carstens, owner of Coulee Creek Florals, received "The Garden of the Month for August" award from The Inland Empire Gardeners Club. Garden Club members residing in Spokane County may apply to have their gardens judged, and each month during the summer, a garden is chosen. The winner is presented at the monthly meeting and receives a special plaque and good bag filled with gifts donated by local businesses. The winner and their gardens will be interviewed and photographed and will appear in the Spokesman-Review newspaper.

This contest is something Terri has wanted to try for many years, but she would always think that the gardens "weren't quite good enough yet" to compete as most avid gardeners are very critical of their own gardens. But after hosting the July INPRO meeting and having an Open House for her son's high school graduation, she felt good about the look of the gardens. Two days before the judging, a terrible thunderstorm blew through the area, with sustained 30+ mph rain and a dust storm! But she and her family picked up the debris and righted what plants they could, and called it good. "I'm just thankful that our farm isn't on fire - it could've been so much worse", referring to the huge fire that is currently burning NE of Creston.

Terri would like to thank the members of INPRO who came out to the farm and gave their words of encouragement and praise for the garden and the gardener. "It's a lot of work, but it's all worth it when you get to share what you love with others!"

Update on Pat Kroetch

Pat with Decades is doing very well. She said she could feel all of our prayers and she said she really appreciates the flowers that INPRO had sent to her. She also said that she was going to go on a nice vacation down to Cannon Beach, OR.
